Picnic Area at Taylor Park, Millburn NJ

There are three parks in Millburn Township plus one gorgeous reservation that is just perfect for hiking.
Gero Park and Old Short Hills Park are located in Short Hills. Gero is home to the town pool, a local golf course, tennis courts, jungle gyms, and several basketball courts and baseball fields. Having grown up in Short Hills, I spent many summer days playing with my friends at the town pool and have fond memories of those days. Now it’s a joy watching my niece and nephew enjoying the same things I did back then! Old Short Hills Park, on the other hand, is mostly a vast field, which is great for picnicking. If you drive past the park and up a long driveway, however, you’ll find the historic Greenwood Gardens, which is 28 acres of formal gardens, open meadows, woodlands, and pasture. If you enjoy gardens and architecture, it’s definitely worth taking a tour.

Taylor Park is located in downtown Millburn (pictured here). With its beautiful greenery and large pond, it’s the ideal place to spend the afternoon. Grab a sandwich from the Millburn Deli and walk over to one of the park benches to enjoy your meal. After you’re done eating, you can take a stroll around the pond, play a game of tennis or basketball, or take your kids to the jungle gym. There are also baseball fields, if you’re so inclined to get a game together. Bauer Community Center is also located on the park grounds, and can be rented out for events.
